Can You Ovulate Without the Presence Of Cervical Mucus?
Typically there is cervical mucus during almost every stage of a womans cycle. The mucus is generally more obvious leading up to and during ovulation, but this isnt always the case. What is normal and what each womans body does each month can really vary and can depend on medications that are taken, diet, stress, and any medical problems that may be present including disease, infection, and damage from previous surgeries. While cervical mucus is usually found in abundance when a woman ovulates, she can actually ovulate without seeing any cervical mucus.
Its important to note that your average woman will have cervical mucus of some variety when she ovulates, even if she does not see it. If a womans body does not produce a lot of cervical mucus she may not be able to discern if she has any unless she does a physical examination of her vagina as well as her cervix. Every woman can do this on her own by simply inserting a couple of fingers into the vagina a couple of inches until she hits something that feels like the tip of her nose. Its often helpful to do this with gloves on so that you can really take a good look at the mucus that is on the gloves when you are done with the examination.
If you do not produce a lot of cervical mucus this type of examination really is the only way to see if you are producing mucus. Yet, if there is not any mucus this does not indicate that you are not ovulating, instead you simply need to get to the bottom of why you are not producing cervical mucus. A lot of the time you can look in your medicine cabinet and find the explanation for why you are not producing much in the way of cervical mucus. There are medications such as allergy medications that not only dry up the mucus in your sinuses but also your cervical mucus.
Simply increasing how much you drink for a month will typically increase the amount of cervical mucus your body produces. A lot of women do not have anything really wrong with them; they just dont focus on doing everything so that they have the ideal type of cervical mucus. Luckily, you can ovulate with no cervical mucus and you can even become pregnant, its just been shown that it is easier to conceive if you have healthy, fertile cervical mucus around the time of ovulation.
If you dont seem to have any or much cervical mucus around the time that you believe you should be ovulating you can always talk with your doctor about ways to improve the way your body is currently functioning. This is not an issue that typically requires drastic treatments, if any, and can usually be cured with over the counter remedies. So, take a deep breathe and relax if you havent seen any cervical mucus, chances are you are still ovulating normally and you just need to work at increasing your cervical mucus!
