Can I use anti-cellulite cream while pregnant?

If you battle with cellulite, you may be wondering if it is all right to use your anti-cellulite cream while you are expecting. The simple answer to this question is no. Unfortunately, some of the products that are used in anti-cellulite cream can be absorbed into the bloodstream and could be harmful to your unborn baby.

The good news is that the most effective way to combat cellulite is through diet and exercise. Fortunately, not only is it safe to follow a healthy diet and exercise plan during pregnancy, most doctors and midwives with recommend that you do exactly that! Following a healthy lifestyle is always a good idea, but while you are pregnant, it is even more important to eat right and exercise. Both aerobic and strength training are good ways to combat cellulite, so check with your health care practitioner to check on what type of exercise is acceptable during your pregnancy. Since cellulite is essentially stored fat, avoiding high fat foods and overeating will help reduce your cellulite.

For some women, following a healthy diet and regular program of exercise is not enough. Some will still have problems with cellulite. If this is the case, do not despair that you cannot use your favorite anti-cellulite creams. The truth is, those creams are most likely to reduce the appearance of cellulite because of the massaging action required to apply it. So, grab your favorite body lotion and start massaging to help firm up those lumpy areas.

Massage increases your circulation, and if cellulite is caused by poor circulation (which is what the health spas claim) then giving yourself a twice daily massage will help to get your blood flowing and reduce those trouble areas. You could also make yourself an appointment for a pregnancy massage you will help your aching, tired body and help reduce the appearance of cellulite at the same time.

After you have delivered your baby, if you still wish to use anti-cellulite cream, some products on the market are safe to use while you are breastfeeding. Check the manufacturers label, and avoid applying the cream directly to your breasts or nipples.
