Can doing yoga help you get pregnant?

Doing yoga while trying to conceive may aid with conception. While doing yoga does not guarantee success, doing yoga can greatly reduce your stress level.

Several clinical studies have suggested that stress can, indeed, negatively affect fertility. When you are under stress, your body produces more and more stress hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine. At the same time, your body slows production of sex hormones. Chronic stress can change your ovulation schedule, making it much more difficult to get pregnant. In this regard, yoga works best as a part of an overall stress-reduction program that may increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Yoga may also be superior to other more vigorous exercises when trying to conceive. Vigorous exercise can also drastically affect your ovulation and menstrual cycle, making it more difficult to get pregnant.

Additionally, yoga can help to prepare your mind and body for pregnancy. During pregnancy, yoga can help strengthen the stomach muscles, spine, back muscles, and pelvis. Each of these areas of the body are important parts of pregnancy and birth.
