Best position to have sex in if I have a tipped uterus and want to get pregnant?

In the past, it has been thought that having a tipped uterus can interfere with becoming pregnant. It is now known, that for the majority of women, the position of the uterus usually does not impede becoming pregnant. Normally, the uterus is suspended in a straight up and down position, or it is forward towards your belly. With a tipped uterus, also called a retroverted or tilted uterus, the uterus is tilted backwards or away from the belly.

Because a tipped uterus can make sexual intercourse painful or difficult, it can get in the way of becoming pregnant, but not necessarily affect your fertility. If you have a tilted uterus and all other reasons for not becoming pregnant have been ruled out, your health practitioner may decide that this is the reason for your infertility.

While no specific sexual position has been proven to help women with a tipped uterus conceive, you can naturally help the semen reach the uterus without causing any negative consequences. In other words, you can try it! The rear-entry position may be helpful, but if this is undesirable, try laying on your abdomen for 10 to 15 minutes after having sex.

Since it is possible that the semen pool would not be in direct contact with your cervix with a tipped uterus, you can also try sex with the woman on top. Lastly, if your partner withdraws his penis about halfway during ejaculation this could place the semen in a good position.
