Activities to Do With Your Toddler

Do you find that you run out of things to do with your toddler? Many times the temptation to park them in front of the TV is so strong because we as moms simply can’t come up with anything fun and interesting for them to do. However, there are many different activities you can enjoy with your toddler that will be fun and help you pass the day much faster!

Make Cookies

Toddlers love to cook! They really enjoy measuring out ingredients and dumping them in the mixing bowl. You will need to help them of course if you are hoping the cookies will turn out edible! The best part is to give your child a spoon and let them spoon the cookies out onto the pan. They really love this part and while it can get messy it is a lot of fun. Just be careful about letting your child eat the cookie batter because raw eggs may have salmonella. If you are in a hurry or don’t like to bake, you may buy the cookie dough that is already made and let your child place it on the cookie sheet. You can find regular dough as well as all natural at most grocery stores!

Play Dough

Play dough is an amazing invention because it keeps toddlers calm and seated for at least 30 minutes at a time. This might not seem like a lot of time to others, but to moms of toddlers it is a golden nugget. Get out the play dough and put your child in his high chair. Consider covering it with plastic wrap so that clean up will be a snap. Then, just have fun molding and playing in the dough.

Library

Most libraries have a story hour once a week for toddlers. Find out when your local library has their story hour and stop by for a visit. It’s a lot of fun and it will give you an opportunity to get out of the house for a little bit.

Dance

Have you ever noticed how much toddlers love to dance? If you want to help them burn off some excess energy, and burn some of your own calories, turn on some music and dance. Your toddler will have fun and you will, too. See who can go the lowest, who can dance on one foot, and you will be amazed at how the time flies by.
