You have been preparing her for this day and talking about all the fun she will have, but when it comes down to it you have no idea what your child will be doing on her first day of school. Get to Know Each Other
One of the first things to take place on day one of kindergarten is getting to know one another. The students introduce themselves to each other and to their teacher. Their teacher will then go around and make sure each student is comfortable and knows how to address her. Then, a fun get to know you game will usually be played so that kids can have fun, relieve the anxiety, and make some new friends.
Classroom Rules
Your childs first day of kindergarten will also include going over the classroom rules. Most kids entering kindergarten have attended preschool or daycare and are already accustomed to basic rules. But, the rules for this new classroom must be discussed and taught to the children.
Also, children will be shown what they should do when they arrive. They will learn where their cubby is, how to store their things, and what they are allowed to do first thing in the morning. Learning the classroom rules is important and they will frequently be discussed over the first few days of school until the children have them down.
Schedule
The first day of school will also include learning about their new schedule. The teacher will tell them how their day will be, what they will be doing, and when they will have breaks, recess, and lunch.
